After years of internal turmoil, two books helped shift my thinking to consciously embrace my new life. "The Purpose Driven Life" and "Traveler's Gift" were powerful influences that touched my soul. Are you familiar with the saying "Let Go, Let God?" That's what I did. I trusted and accepted that God had a greater plan for my life than I could have ever imagined.
Shifting my perspective, I realized my entire life had been perfect. I gained my strength climbing out of the valley and onto the mountain top! Every experience, good or bad, had created this person I was today. Don't get me wrong. There are many lessons I would have preferred not to learn! But in hindsight, each one was necessary for my personal growth. I am a culmination of life experiences and that's my gift to share.
Now when I am in the midst of a difficult situation I'll say, "Ok, God. What in the world am I supposed to be learning?" and "Must I learn it now?" I never said acceptance was easy. It's just a required step to living in abundance.
I knew my purpose was to focus on serving the needs of women. Women, like myself, who were experiencing
- Identity shifts.
- New careers.
- New lives.
I wanted to help empower women to make wise choices. Open their hearts and eyes to the power of possibility. Help women answer questions they didn't even think to ask.
I realized I had spent a lifetime making a living. I decided I would spend the rest of my life making a difference.
Today, life is good. I found a great friend and married him! He's a wonderful man who shares my love of gardening, being outdoors, and travel. He is insightful, wise, and supportive. His wonderful sayings inspire much of my writing.
My fabulous children (aren't all children fabulous?) have each married and chosen great partners to share their lives. And I'm now a Grandma! I have created a practice which brings me joy...clarity coaching for women in transition.
What changed?
